Two Detentions Following London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

The assault caused the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

Two more people are now in custody related to a robbery at Heathrow Airport in which 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to police.

A 24-year-old man, was taken into custody in Lambeth for suspected robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, authorities confirmed.

The arrests follow an investigation into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the incident, two women had stolen from them their suitcases upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was one of the injured in the event. Five people were taken to the hospital for medical care and have since been released.

Officers detained a man in his thirties on suspicion of robbery and assault close to the scene. He was subsequently released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were alerted at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of several individuals injured by a noxious substance thought to be pepper spray.

The attack - which authorities stated was a standalone incident and not being treated as an act of terror - resulted in train delays and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a short time.
